I’m Living in a Van With My Best Friend
Carrie and I have not seen each other in over a year. Our best-friendship began nine years ago just before the first day of high school. We have remained linked throughout four sometimes tough, sometimes funny, sometimes life-changing years of high school, through four years at university where we had a long distance relationship, and over the last year and a half during which we have both been living abroad on different continents.
I studied in Ireland, backpacked through Eastern Europe, and moved to New Zealand while she was changing lives and teaching English in Thailand.
Several months ago, she contacted me about visiting New Zealand. I was so excited about the idea, but honestly, didn’t believe anything would become of it since about ten different people have started planning trips to visit me in New Zealand over the last year and none have arrived yet.
I have never been so happy to be wrong! Here we are: six days into living in a dope van together and just over two weeks left. We have made our way around the northern tip of the South Island of New Zealand. Ahead of us this week we will be sky diving at a glacier, bungy jumping, and seeing so many incredible places and walking so many breathtaking trails I think I might die from all the beauty.
I’ll tell you all more about our trip later on when I’m not so busy soaking up every moment with my soul sister.
