Sincerest apologies for the major gaps in my blog updates… We rented a car for two weeks and nearly every single day have jetted off somewhere in England within a three hour drive to explore as many places as possible.  Last I left us off in Dover, but we have been all over the map since then!

From the very start of our journey through Kent, I felt smitten with the area.  Tiny charming villages with old pubs and rooms upstairs to rent were our daily stops.  Everything is worth a photo and the people in Kent are so warm and kind.

As we made our way north to the country’s center, our next stop on the English road trip was Canterbury.  Since I studied a severe amount of British lit in college, I’m no stranger to Chaucer and The Canterbury Tales.  It was one of the first major pieces of literature to be written in English rather than French!   So it was exciting to visit the final destination in this famed piece of work that I once studied.

Once we entered the old walled city, we let ourselves get lost in Canterbury’s winding medieval streets.  Every building is a reason to stop and take in the scene before you.  The architecture is straight out of a fairytale from my childhood.   We then stopped for the evening at The Hundred of Ashendon.  Our road trip has been very literary-themed (and beer-themed) and I cannot wait to show you where else we have been.  (More on that later!)
