4 Ferry Rides You Can Take From Auckland

So you’ve spent some time in Auckland and now you’re looking for something else to do? Private beaches, majestic volcanoes, breathtaking vineyards, and so much more await you just a ferry ride away. Here are four ferry rides you can take from Auckland CBD for a great day or weekend trip.

Waiheke Island

NZ Waiheke Onetangi Beach

Strikingly similar to a Hawaiian paradise, Waiheke Island is just a 40 minute ferry ride from Auckland.  Vineyards, stunning beaches, and friendly backpackers can be found all over this beautiful island.  Did I mention this is where I live?

Rangitoto Island

A short ferry ride from Auckland takes you to Rangitoto Island where you can hike a 6,000-year-old volcano to see amazing blue-green views in every direction.  If you’re lucky, like me, you’ll make some friends at the top!

Devonport

Devonport is a small, quiet beachside town just a fifteen minute ferry ride from Auckland.  Wander through the neighborhoods on your way to Cheltenham Beach and spend the day with a great view of Rangitoto from the shore.

Coromandel Peninsula

On the western end of the Bay of Plenty, the Coromandel Peninsula is reason enough to come to New Zealand.  Spend at least the weekend here to visit Cathedral Cove and take part in adventure activities.

Tara Higgins

Tara loves all things London and wants to spend the rest of her life reading books in beautiful places. She can often be found nestled up in a bookshop, drinking a pint at the pub, or searching for the best pizza slice in town.
